Kitchen Helper

Kitchen Helper. 8 temporary, full-time positions. 4/1/2026 to 11/1/2026. HIS-Northern MI, Inc. DBA Perry Hotel, Bay View Inn, Crooked River Lodge, Pier Restaurant, Weathervane Restaurant located at 100 Lewis Street, Petoskey, MI 49770. seasonalemployment@hishotels.com.

Tasks: Maintain food and beverage work areas in clean condition; sweep and mop floors; wash dishes, pots and pans, worktables, walls, refrigerators; remove trash and garbage and place in designated containers. stocking, organizing, and cleaning food storage areas. Basic food prep such as preparing cold foods, slicing meat and brewing coffee and tea, as needed by cook.

Wage and Job Details:

  • 35 hours per week. 7-hour workday. Possible shifts: 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm. Sunday - Saturday. Days off and shifts vary. OT hours possible.
  • No minimum education required. No experience required.
  • Daily transportation provided by the employer to worksites. Work will be performed at five locations, all within 30 minutes of each other in Emmet and Charlevoix counties. A worker shuttle is provided for transportation between all locations.
  • Wage: $13.95/hour. OT Wage: $20.93/hour. Workers paid biweekly.
  • Optional board/lodging available at a cost of $300 every two weeks to be deducted from pay if elected. In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.
  • On the job training provided. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any worker in the specified occupation, at the company’s sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill and tenure. Single workweek will be used to compute wages due. All deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law will be made. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for workers’ reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
  • Daily subsistence provided at a rate of at least $16.28/day during travel to a maximum of $68/day with receipts/documentation of actual expenses. H2B Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees).
  • Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job, and guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12 week period of total employment period.
